Who is Maggie Betts?

So Sloane, you know I am forever trying to figure out the black people that occupy places in the white social world. I mean I am well versed on those in the Black bougie set - I mean Sag Harbor, Jack & Jill, Martha's Vineyard, The Links...all these things are one big clusterfuck that takes you at birth and never lets you go until you are dead. So to find out about the other side, those who stay safely away from our world, and stick to the 10021 set is always so interesting to me. Namely because this world tends to be pretty homogeneous, and to put it bluntly - white. So here we have Maggie Betts. According to NY Mag she is "daughter of Roland Betts, the developer of Chelsea Piers and President Bush's closest New York connection". (Not to get off track, but I had no idea a Black man is behind Chelsea Piers) And from the pic above you can see she is BFF with the Bush daughters. She is also very much apart of the social set, pictured below with Tinsely Mortimer and friends at a benefit held in the Turks & Caicos recently. So I guess daddy's money + republican + friends of Bush = entrance into the social set? Well add her name to the list of Black socialites including Genevieve Jones, Rachel Roy, and Susan Fales Hill.
Yours in social investigation,
Chase.

Interesting story. Parents very close with Bush since college - yet mother is black, dad is white.

Just FYI, Maggie's father is white, mother is black. Father attended Yale with Bush.
