More "Gay" Nonsense from Jamaica

Chase:
I would love if one day a fellow Jamaican could sit me down and explain to me why the general population is fascinated with homosexuality. Why are people so afraid of homosexuals and where does this fear stem from? I have heard the theory the fear of homosexuality dates back to slavery when many slaves were raped by their white owners and so the fear is a social construct which has been passed down throughout generations. That theory has some validity, but there must be a more in-depth explanation and there must be something that the government can do to quell the constant prejudice that the gay community faces.
Why aren't more international human rights organizations putting more pressure on the government to condemn the prejudices towards the gay and lesbian community? It is all so bizarre to me. Anyways here is another silly "gay" story from today's Observer about a hair salon that was forced to close because it was rumored to have two gay stylists. Pity the ignorance.

P.S. Look at the picture carefully and read what the sign says.

As absurd and inhumane as anti-gay sentiment is in Jamaica...let us please not fail to remeber that there other scourges that destroy far more Jamaicans' human rights far more deeply. You know like: poverty, garrison politics, police killings etc. While it's hard to guage any form of victimization, these deserve at least as much attention as homophobia - sadly there are less "fabulous" spokespeople for these more mundane issues.
