There is no denying it that at laceglovesoff we have an obsession with the Beckham's. My obsession changes from day to day as sometimes I love Posh and then there are other times when I find myself questioning her fashion judgement. The Beckham's have arrived stateside and was able to catch VB's "Coming to America" special today on YouTube (I was on a plane last night and missed the actual broadcast). After watching the show, I must tell you Chase and fellow readers that VB definitely has a sense of humor and she is a diva to no end. She obviously realizes the pull of her celebrity and she has no problem making fun of it. I think that she has the right attitude cause if you are going to have the pappo's in your life constantly then you may as well make the most of it.

Miami was great but now I am back in NYC dreaming of the beach. I think I am officially "over" living in this concrete jungle. How is the island paradise? What have you guys been up to? Well I am here trying to hold down the blogging until you get sight of a computer. I saw this pic. of Katie Holmes earlier and it got me thinking that the girl has such a bad rep. for being married to Tom Cruise. When Katie cut her hair a few weeks back there were hardly any blogs out there that did not have a mean comment or two about her new look when in fact I found it refreshing. Not that she is a fashionista or anything, but I will say Katie should get more credit for her style than say Angelina Jolie, who in my mind always looks the damn same. Sloane have you been wondering where the Brangelinas are lately??? Just weeks ago it was almost daily pics of the Benetton family, "coincidentally" around the time they needed to promote A Mighty Heart. Now that the product push is over, they slip into the background and the photos start to dry up. I think this just proves my point about celebrities and paparazzi mayhem. Celebrities FOR SURE have a certain amount of control over when they are photographed. Am I saying that the razzy photos of them are staged? No, I think they are definitely followed and accosted, but they clearly know how to live life under the radar when they want. We all know that Mariah struggles with her weight; maybe she is happy with her weight, but at the same time Hollywood does not cut her much slack for not being stick thin. If I were to guesstimate I would say Mariah weighs about 150-160 lbs. and knowing this, when I saw her picture I immediately looked at her legs in search of some cellulite and alas, there was NONE! Neither a bump nor a ripple! How fake are these magazines that keep airbrushing celebrities? And everyone is now turning around and questioning why Janet Jackson has "suddenly" gained all this weight. You know I am always up to date on my pills, so I am sure it came as no surprise to you my latest interest in this new FDA approved, over-the-counter weight loss drug Alli. Until last night I did not know much about Alli, except for the fact that it was the iPhone of pharmaceuticals last week. I did some research and Alli seems as if it could be a really effective little pill but the side effects are scaring me a bit. See Alli is a weight loss aid that belongs to a class of drugs called lipase inhibitors. Lipase is a digestive enzyme that breaks down the fat our food so that it is easily absorbed and stored. Alli works directly in the digestive track by preventing the action of lipase, when then inhibits the body's absorption of fat. The bottom line is you cannot take Alli if you are on the Atkins diet! Alli only works with a low fat diet because if more than a certain amount of fat is ingested per meal the side effects can range from "uncontrollable bowel movement" to "gas with an oily discharge." EEEEEW! GROSS! Then again some of us will try anything to shed that extra 7 lbs that won't f*&k off!

My favorite blog for quite some time has been Laineygossip.com, its a bit of reading but well worth it for some PHD level gossip. So anyway, my Lainey coined the term "taupe" and I have ran wild with it, because there is just so much taupe in the world. What is taupe besides a generic wall color? Well a bland ass person. Taupe is common, a person you have met a million times to the point that they just blend in with the walls. Taupe are the sheep I am always talking about who just blindly herd in line from one pasture to the next. Jennifer Garner is one of my examples of a taupe woman...who is dying to meet Jennifer Garner really? Or have you met her so many times the conversation is not even necessary?

These leggings that Beyonce wore on the BET Awards are Balenciaga. No, Sloane, they are not a Tina Knowles creation or from a local Rave or Forever 21...When I saw the leggings, I immediately thought back to the Paris shows and the android leggings from Mr. Ghesquière's runway, but I thought, no, those look like a bad knock-off....a costume sewn up for the occasion. When I tell you these made my heart swoon back in September. They are so funky and futuristic, but I will admit they are conceptual fashion to me, even if I could afford them I doubt that I would have the balls to wear them. So, I give her props for trying -- attempting -- to pull off the look. And yes it is a costume so we can't be too mad, but do you see what I mean about how she takes these high-end, conceptual frocks and makes them look so run of the mill and down right cheesy? You may hate my Posh, but I bet you Vickie could pull these off in a much more chic fashion...

Do you recall our discussion about Usher's fiancee Tameka Foster? I knew it from the start that when she came on the scene she was up to no good. See I was puzzled as to how this unattractive, slightly overweight chic could bag a guy like Usher. Not as if Usher is on my top 10 list, but still, to some he was considered an eligible bachelor. He has tons of loot and could get any girl he wanted and so it was perplexing to me how he could turn around and bag a Lenox Square Mall-looking-chic like Tameka. So I missed most of the show, forgot it was tonight and instead was catching up on Entourage (how cute is my Vince, btw?)...just caught some highlights -- I MUST see Jennifer Holiday vs. Jennifer Hudson...and of course my Diana swinging that wig to accept the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Now on to the fashion...Rihanna was definitely my runner up for best look of the night. She looks amazing, although the shoes are throwing me off, not sure why...Then there was Kelly, whose dress I didn't mind but it was such a predictable look for her...
Then there was Ms. Beyonce....Sloane why do I even bother caring? Yet again she manages to cheapen the hell out of some couture...I LOVE the dress, honestly it is gorgeous, can't you see Naomi Campbell or Cate Blanchett wearing the hell out of this dress? But on Beyonce it is predictable (you have to tear that girl away from some metallics) and looks like something her mother whipped up over the weekend...

Sloane dear, do you remember these Steve Madden treasures from like 10 years ago? I remember them well, had a pair that I rocked hard throughout the summer of '97 and even a bit in '98 - I know the shame. But they were hot THEN. And to my dismay and bewilderment, these shoes somehow are making a comeback on fashion challenged feet throughout NYC. When I tell you I have seen these so often that I decided to google them, just to figure out WHERE THE HELL WOMEN ARE FINDING THEM?!?! My first assumption was that bitches had stockpiled these things in '97 because I certainly have not seen them for sale at any shoe store I frequent. But upon my google trip I see that they are actually for sale on stevemadden.com under his "classics" section. Sigh. Why do retailers do this to women? Don't they know how many sheep there are out there who will welcome the return of their old faithfuls? I am just saddened by the news, do I have a summer full of these things to look forward to? Apart from the media frenzy that will be ignited tomorrow (makes for good TV and lots of blog surfing) what I am most looking forward to is Paris' Larry King interview on Wednesday night.

I can't wait to get a taste of Paris' psyche- has she changed or is it all an act? What kind of soft ball questions will Larry King ask for an entire hour (well around 40 mins give or take with commercials)? What will she wear? Certainly she will not be going for the dumb blonde look- don't you remember her comments in the first week of jail when she said to Babs Walters that she is through with being dumb.

Hey Sloane, I am back...landed last night with Kelly Rowland in tow. Haha, she was on my plane - in first class of course. She entered the boarding area at LAX with 5 inch heels, skinny jeans and a white tank, chloe bag in hand. I must say she has the highest quality weave hair I have seen in a minute. Perhaps I am just so used to the weave on the uptown D train that I don't have a proper comparison point - but it was shiny and lovely. She is pretty but a very I have seen you a million times in a million malls kind of face. But the joke of the day was that as she luxuriated in first class, her two cling-ons were relegated to business class. Haha, and while they waited at Kennedy for the luggage with the plebeians, Ms. Kelly was whisked away in her waiting car. LOVES IT. I need a p.a. to tend to my luggage, mmm, in fact I want to travel with no luggage at all - with homes in each city, why would I need to bring anything?

So, let me say flat out I believe in plastic surgery with one major caveat; it MUST must must be subtle. Demi Moore is my poster girl for the kind of plastic surgery I am talking about. The woman looks so fresh and young without being totally pulled and stretched within an inch of her life. I don't know who her surgeon or surgeons are but they deserve a prize for their work, seriously. For a white woman of her age to look this good? Yes I said it - for a white woman, dammit.

My other subtle plastic surgery poster girl is none other than.....drum roll please...Kelly Rowland. The work she has done to herself is so inconspicuous and so well done, most people do not even realize she has had work. But let's think back to D-Child's early years...the bulbous nose, the bottom lip that would never quite make it up to meet the top lip...come on, you know you have thought how improved she looks...as if it were age or a new hair style. This is the magic of a good plastic surgeon...pure magic people.

First, have I schooled you on what it is to be a "taupe" person? Well, think of the color taupe in all its glory...generic, safe, uncomplicated...it just blends in with everything. A taupe person is the same; generic, safe, uncomplicated, blends in with the walls - you get me? So, Jennifer Garner is the definition of taupe. I have never seen the hype about her, yes the body during her television series days was crazy...but this girl is the most unimpressive celebrity, like ever. No style. Looks like just about any brown haired, pretty-ish girl in any city or town in any part of America.

But anyway, I must call her out today for totally pimping her baby. I understand the dedicated Mom thing, and that is why she is always with her daughter. But, why not shield your kid from being in the papers like on a weekly basis? Because lets face it, when a celebrity does not want to be caught by cameras on a regular basis, they simply know how to avoid it. Lets take Brad and Angelina for example. The biggest celebrities in the world right now, the paparazzi would literally run Jennifer Garner over to get a picture of them. So, how many pictures of Shiloh have we seen? Hmmm, like maybe 5 total in her year of life. This little girl, Violet Affleck, hmm let's see, like 5 pictures a week maybe? Put it all together, and this is how Jennifer Garner and by extension Ben Affleck are keeping themselves relevant. NOT with actual film work, but by toting their cute kid all around for the photogs. Its really a shame.

Well first of all can we just begin with the obvious - it's a one-off of my Posh's FAMOUS bob. Katie's style is a lot safer, more becoming of a Cruise wife I guess. And speaking of being a Cruise wife, doesn't the haircut make her look more manly? I bet it was Tom's idea...from the back she probably looks like...well you get what I mean.

I have ALWAYS believed the rumor that Jay-Z and Rihanna have a thing going. And why would that be so far fetched- she is pretty and sexy (and slimmer than Beyonce.) Rihanna even has a Beyonce look which Jay Z has creatively crafted. So I wonder what Beyonce thought when she read the interview that ran on people.com in which Rihanna basically spilled the beans. See excerpts below:

"I just found out from a mutual friend that guys will talk to Jay first before they try to approach me," Rihanna, 19, told PEOPLE at a Venus Breeze event in New York City (her gams were named this year's "Celebrity Legs of a Goddess").

The Bajan pop princess goes on to say:

"He's very protective," she says of her mentor, who discovered her and signed her to his Def Jam label. "Jay has my best interests in mind. If it's a good guy I know Jay won't shut him down. But if he's not, Jay will be like, 'No, no, no.' "

Oh, just look at my Posh in her wedge sneakers...what, you don't have a pair? I would make a serious bet that her hamstrings have shortened because of her constant high-heel wearing, making flats painful. But, as a 10 year-old sage told me, "beauty is pain"...Sloane, do you remember that girl? She recited a poem on getting a relaxer and the sheer torture of your scalp burning, ending the recitation with eyes wide, screaming "BUT BEAUTY IS PAIN"...scary moments, scary moments.

See, cute.....And just to clarify, its not that I am a fan of Kelly's, I just think that she has what it takes to be a starlet(i.e. have medicore talent, semi-sucessful projects, go to a lot of parties and be famous for simply showing your face a lot in cute outfits.)
